About us
The Sandro Demaio Foundation is a not-for-profit charity that envisions a future where every child and their families enjoy good health enabled by a delicious, healthy, sustainable and fair food system.
We’re on a mission to create opportunities for children, young people and their communities to learn about and shape a food system that is delicious, healthy, sustainable and fair. Our primary focus is on the delivery and expansion of the Little Food Festival, Australia’s first and only food festival for kids.
About you
Do you want to use your skills to support the growth of Australia’s first food festival for kids - the Little Food Festival? We're looking for Board Directors who bring both strategic acumen and genuine commitment to our mission. We’re in an exciting time of opportunity as we scale up the Little Food Festival and add new projects to our offering. This is the perfect time for experienced Board Directors to join us in shaping SDF’s future direction primarily in identifying and securing strategic funding and business development opportunities.
What’s involved?
Time commitment: Approximately one hour per week
Volunteer role (unpaid)
A blend of strategic board work and operational support in line with your skillset
Attend and represent SDF at key events, fundraisers, and sector engagements
Collaborate closely with the Senior Program Manager and Founder to execute on strategic goals.
Key skill areas we’re looking for:
We are seeking Board Directors with experience in the following areas to fill two current vacancies.
BOARD CHAIR – FINANCE/GOVERNANCE FOCUS
Strong governance and strategic leadership experience
Ability to guide a collaborative and values-led Board
CPA/CA accreditation or equivalent financial expertise
Experience with financial oversight and risk
Previous governance or Company Secretary experience is highly regarded.
Well-established networks and a commitment to our mission.
BOARD MEMBER – FUNDRAISING FOCUS
Experience in leading NFP/social enterprises to scale up, grow and expand
Ability to provide strategic guidance to grow and diversify SDF’s funding base
Established relationships, with the ability to Identify and support high-level relationships across philanthropy, corporate sponsors, trusts and foundations.
Previous experience in delivering comprehensive fundraising strategies that drive growth and increase revenue
Ability to oversee the production of pitch decks and proposal documents that articulate SDF’s impact and value to stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the SDF Board
Support our Senior Program Manager in their role
Contribute to the development of SDF’s strategy
Ensure highest standards of governance and regulatory compliance
Commit to regular Board meetings (approximately 1 meeting per quarter)
Commit to monthly meetings with the Senior Program Manager.
